The Alpine Ridge Challenge combines steep ascents, narrow ridgelines, and breathtaking panoramas — perfect for those looking to test their endurance and experience a taste of alpine mountaineering.
Led by a certified mountain guide, this route includes sections with light scrambling, use of fixed cables, and steady elevation gains, offering a rewarding and safe experience for adventurers ready for a challenge.
Itinerary
06:00 – Meet & Gear Check: Meet your guide at the trailhead in Kals am Großglockner for introductions and safety briefing. Gear check (helmet, harness, poles).
06:30 – Start Ascent: Begin the climb through alpine forest, gradually transitioning into rocky terrain and open ridgelines.
09:00 – Ridge Traverse: Follow a narrow, exposed ridge section secured with cables and handholds. Take short breaks to admire panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
11:30 – Summit Break: Reach the summit at approx. 2,800 m. Enjoy your packed lunch while soaking in views of the Grossglockner massif.
12:30 – Descent: Begin your descent along a different route with steep, rocky trails and loose scree sections.
15:30 – Return: Arrive back at the meeting point for debrief and farewell.
